How long should I rent a dumpster for a remodel?
Seven days covers the demolition phase of most kitchen and bathroom remodels, and it is included with every Hayes Bros dumpster. Extra days are $25 each. Schedule delivery for the morning demo starts, not days before, so the included days go to actual work.
- Demo first, then call for pickup. Finish-phase scraps are small and can go in a second small dumpster if needed.

What remodel debris needs special handling?
Lead paint and asbestos need special handling before remodel debris goes in a dumpster. Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint, and older flooring, ceiling texture and pipe wrap can contain asbestos. Old fridges and window AC units carry a $50 fee because the refrigerant must be recovered first.

What will my remodeling dumpster bill include?
Every remodeling dumpster rental includes 7 days and a set weight by dumpster size. Weight over that is $75 per ton, billed by the exact pound from the certified landfill scale ticket, which comes with your final invoice 3 to 5 business days after pickup. Every 500 lb over the included weight costs $18.75.

What can't go in the dumpster?
Hazardous chemicals, wet paint and batteries can't go in any Hayes Bros dumpster. Mattresses, tires and appliances that hold Freon (fridges, freezers, window AC units) can go in for $50 each, because the disposal site handles them separately. Most household junk, furniture, wood, drywall, shingles and yard debris are fine.

Can I put cabinets and countertops in the dumpster?
Cabinets, laminate and stone countertops all go in. Stone and quartz are heavy, so a kitchen with stone counters is worth weighing against the 3 tons in a 20-yard.
Can drywall go in a remodel dumpster?
Drywall goes in any size. It is dense when stacked, so a load mostly of drywall reaches the included weight sooner than mixed debris.
Can the dumpster go on my driveway during a remodel?
Driveway placement is the usual choice. Boards go under the rails to protect the concrete.
What if my remodel runs longer than 7 days?
Keep the dumpster longer at $25 per day, or call for a pickup and book a smaller one for the finish phase.
